Lively, the 3D world made by Google
A couple of days I discovered via Dirson the new 3D world of Google, Lively, of which you have an interesting explanatory video on Youtube.
Google adds its 3D technology of Sketchup, used in modeling of Google Earth, a simple interface for creating collaborative virtual spaces. The appearance of the Web Lively somewhat reminiscent of Orkut, the Google virtual community failed, although philosophy is diametrically different. Both Lively forums like Orkut are micro-communities, the difference is that Lively provides direct and immediate interaction of users, application integration and the ability to create original, apart of course from the three dimensional feeling of the rooms in the purest style modern gaming.
Virtual worlds (see article) since 1994, the year in which surfaced World Chat, the first based 3D chat avatars and virtual rooms, owned by Worlds.net. A year later he Active Worlds followed by Whyville, Habbo, The Sims Online, Second Life, There, Entropy, Teen Second Life and, finally, in 2007, Virtual Laguna Beach. All these metaverses must add a long list of MORPGS (massively multiplayer online role playing games online) from among those that highlight the Aion, World of Warcraft and Age of Conan. With Lively, Google goes one step further in creating three-dimensional virtual spaces where they can freely use their technology Adscape. Through this content manager advertising in video games, Google may eventually show "the appropriate ad to the right person at the right time."
Creating space in Lively, the author's will regarding their basic rights plays an important role. Like in the free Google (Google Knol), Lively makes it possible to select among various levels of interaction from visitors on our site. Thus, we can let users add, revise or delete any object in our living room, or allow only the entry into our space. (Incidentally, I've started my first contribution to Google Knol: Habeas Data.)
To begin building your own 3D space you have to download and install the Lively software on your PC. For now the requirements are Windows Vista / XP with Internet Explorer or Firefox for what Apple lovers will have to grit his teeth for a few months until I get the Mac version The rest, I recommend this one a try and you think a space virtual self. Here you have mine:
