Costa Rica declared peace to the nature
Yesterday I attended an interesting lunch with Óscar Arias Sánchez, President of the Republic of Costa Rica, in which we were asked to join the effort to bring his country to make our planet a better, greener and more environment friendly environment.
Costa Rica abolished its army 60 years ago, which its president describes as a formal declaration of peace to the world. Now, this country has also decided to declare peace to nature:
- Last year, Costa Rica became the country with more trees per capita and per square kilometer in the world, by planting 5 million trees.
- In 2008 it was being planted 7 million trees.
- Costa Rica has been proposed as a country carbon neutral by 2021.
- Today we ask that we join the effort.
The speech (excellent, incidentally) who gave the President Arias was emotional and hopeful, but also highlighted the enormous barriers that European countries we will find in the race to save nature.
So I wanted to dedicate this post to do my little appeal to the struggle for the environment (Tips for caring for the environment; Tips to save water, Environment Portal)
